Ray Charles is a North American singer and pianist, he was born on September 23, 1993, in Albany located in the state of Georgia, was the son of Aretha Williams and Baley Robinson. Just when Ray was still a baby, the family moved to Greenville in Florida. When he was seven he lost his overall vision, didn’t know exactly why he went blind but suspected glaucoma or suggested that it was an infection caused by soapy water in his eyes. Ray studied at the school for the blind and deaf Saint Augustine in st Augustine in Florida. There he learned to compose music, play some musical instruments, including the piano.

At fifteen, after finishing school his mother died. He moved to Jacksonville with some friends of his mother. He began his career playing piano and singing gospel with some groups. after a year he moved to Orlando, and then to Tampa, there he joined a group called "The Florida Boys Play". Ray thereafter began his habit to wear sunglasses.
Charles never had his own band, and that was his biggest dream, so he wanted to move to a big city and asked a friend for help. He moved to Seattle and there befriended Robert Blackwell, and won his first hit, the song "Confession Blues". Charlie died at the age of 73 on June 10, 2004 in
Beverly Hills due to a liver disease.
